ECS K7S6A mainboard is this board any good?

Well, most prefer the K7S5A. K7S6A Has 3 main differences from K7S5A:

1. SiS 745 rather than SiS 735
2. 3 DDR rahter than 2 DDR and 2 SDR
3. No LAN

It does have limited overclocking as well, but I haven't heard too much good about the ocing. I personally feel that the addition of one DDR slot is nothing to get excited over, neither is 745, and taking away LAN really sucks. Id rather have K7S5A

you forgot that the sis 745 adds ddr 333 ram support instead of just 266 (although the performance difference is nearly negligable) and the 745 has firewire built into the chipset. the boards are only about $10 difference in price with the 745 being slightly more expensive.

Yah about the firewire, but sadly, ECS didn't pu the $5 into K7S6A so you could use it so K7S6A has no Firewire and no Network. And even if 745 has DDR333 support, it sometimes when using DDR333 is slower than DDR266 (see here). I still would go for K7S5A, which I do have myself and love it!!!!

My K7S5A with AMD XP1600 and 512MB Crucial pc2100ddr is faster than my Asus P4B266 and P4 1.6a @ 2.1. 😉 The P4 machine works better for a DAW though...
