ECS K7S5A's Integrated NIC Problem

I'm having a problem with ECS' Integrated NIC, It doesn't connect to the DHCP server and when I enter the information Manually, it doesn`t seem to connect.
(I tried Windows 98 and XP, and it's the exact same problem)

Thanks in advance

I'm dual booting 98/XP and using the 1.14 LAN drivers. According to the ECS K7S5a drivers d/l site 1.14 was the update for XP. Is that what you're using?

That still doesn't explain the Win98 probs if you are using the 1.12 LAN drivers.

Is this a config that just stopped working or a new setup?

1. Gotta ask, NIC enabled in BIOS?
2. Device manager recognizes and says the NIC is good?
3. Double check all TCP/IP settings to make sure they are "automatic assign IP address", etc.
4. Remove/reboot/add TCP/IP maybe? I'm reaching here.....

I love your name... Being a fellow-quaker, I have to help.

The setup program that comes with the K7S5A is a little odd... It doesn't say anything about installing the NIC drivers, only the AGP drivers. But after you install the AGP drivers and reboot it should automatically install the NIC drivers and default it to DHCP, thus looking to pull an IP address. Where is your DHCP server? Is it a Cable/DSL router or a PC running DHCP?

It's cable, Rogers@home
I called them and they said my new Mac Address isn't registered so in 2 to 5 days, I will be able able to connect 😉

thanks 😀

Thanx for posting the solution to your problem 🙂 I have a K7S5A and the on-board LAN is excellent! Have fun 😀

In my opinion, taking 2-5 days to change your MAC Address is a load of BS.

All they have to do is type your new MAC Address into their system as you read it to them. The only reason they are saying 2-5 days is because they're lazy.

I'd call them and complain to the manager, that is just laziness.

Damn, give me the #, I need to call and chew them out again... Friggin @home, I hate 'em.
