Board seems a little flaky. Are these traditionally shipped with low batteries? I'm not sure... might have been a refurb.

I'm thinking the problem's the CMOS battery, but has anyone else gotten a board and pretty much immediately have to change the battery?

I have built at least six computers using this motherboard. The low battery indication is because you need to go into setup and set the correct FSB and memory speed. Once you do that the low battery indication will go away.

This is a great motherboard.

Don't know the exact problem because I don't have the board with me. I'll post more details this weekend.

I had it, I had to play with the board a little while (reset the BIOS, etc) to get it to work, but I got it to work fine, installed Windows XP, etc. Then I transported it to my brother's house, and he hasn't been able to get it to work quite right. Says it comes up, does something weird with the IDE devices (doesn't recognize the dvd-rom drive), then displays a couple of errors and goes into some kind of error screen.

Those are all the details I know... I'll post more this weekend.

Take a read through HERE - there's ALOT of questions and NOT alot of answers from people regarding this board! Note that it may take a few minutes to load.

I have one of these boards at home running an XP1700+ and it works fine, but I'm not trying to tweak it or anything.. just gonna leave it alone 'cuz it works the way it is. ;)

Thanks! That'll help a bit, I think. I'll bring a PC or two to my brother's place... see if I can get everything to work. Browsing that board might provide some hints.

Depending on the revision, you might have a board that looses its BIOS setting (guessing here about your problem). I fixed mine with a 470 ohm resistor.

The solution I found was on AMDMB.COM, you might want to do some research there, using "loss CMOS" as a search string in the ECS motherboard area.
