I bought a K7S5A about a year ago. It works fine, however, I would like
to upgrade my processor. The manual does not say anything about support
for the AthlonXP, but it was written before the XP came out. Will an
AthlonXP work in the K75SA?

ECS has manuals online

http://www.ecs.com.tw/download/manual_k7s.htm

There are two different versions of the K7S5A, one which says it has support
for the XP, and one which has no mention (it was authored before the XP
came out). Does anyone have the original revision running an XP? Anyone
know for sure it does not support it?

I think V1.X does NOT support XP's and 3.X does.

I don't know what will hapen if you put a XP in the 1.X one. Maybe someone knows?

Only very early v1.0 don't. Most v1.x are XP ready, and have an "XP" sticker near the CPU socket to indicate that. You'll need a recent BIOS, then you're set - up to the 2600 model (133 MHz bus, not the 166 MHz flavor).

I bought my K7S5A back in August of 2001 when it first came out and I've upgraded it from a 1.4ghz Tbird to a 1600+ Athlon XP w/o problems, just get the updated BIOS.

Dont think its not your strong suit. :)

The motherboars will support all XP processorsers except the 166(333DDR) types.

Just update the BIOS.
