Hello I have been using this motherboard for about four months and it works flawlessly, I have no dissatisfactions with it. Except for the fact that the sound is soooooooo soft. I made the volume control in Windows XP on the loudest and its still very soft. I used to use headphones with it and it was barely loud enough. So I went out and got a 3 piece speaker set. I hooked it up and i heard nothing. I then put the volume on the loudest and faintly heard the sound. I thought that it was maybe something wrong with the speakers, but they worked very good with my cd player. So I'm wondering if there is anything to make it louder? Or do I need a new soundcard? Thanks

take a look at the sound chip on the mobo, make note of which one it is. It's prob a Realtek ALC100, ALC101, or ALC200, download and install the correct drivers fromHERE. These drivers and the application software gave a boost to the onboard sound on my son's K7S5A board.
If you sound chip is a C-Media use the appropriate drivers from C-Media.

Also make sure that your speakers are "powered" variety. That is a necessity as it is not "amplified" from the system. Many people think that their sound is not working even after they load the correct drivers; then find out it was the "unpowered" speakers they were using.

Thanks for the help guys but i figured out the problem. I stupidly pluggled the speakers into the sound in port on my mobo. I assumed that it was plugged into the right one since i could hear some sound. Thanks anyways and sorry for wasting your time.
