The onboard audio is extremely quiet, even with the volume turned to the max. My system is:

ECS K755A mobo
AthlonXP 1700
128mb generic pc133
Win98
Geforce3 ti200
Optimus Nova 71 Headphones

I've tried the drivers from the cd and from SIS's website, but it's still barely audible.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Have you checked to see if all the volume controls are turned up all the way? For example, wav, midi, cd audio, etc...

Thats just the way it is with the K7S5A, its audio outputs are a little below line level.

There have been a few posts about this in a ECS Forums at www.ocworkbench.com

On-board audio on motherboards has never been all that great. If it really bothers you just find a cheap $15 PCI soundcard (look on http://www.pricewatch.com)

I had also a K7S5A and had the same problem.
There is no solution for that, except using (stronger) powered speakers.
I solve it buying some Genius 2.1 speakers, and later a Audigy sound card.

Remember you NEED a PCI card for K7S5A

This probably won't help you, but on my 8KHA+ using AC97 onboard audio, I can go to the volume control and click advanced and there is a checkbox for "Loudness."

This is a commonly reported issue on the K7S5A and is resolved by using good quality powered speakers, headphones are a waste of time with it's weak AC97 in my experience.
