ECS k7s5a nothing on the screen

This guy I know is building a system with this motherboard. He says it booting up the first time and then when he pushed restart he hasn't been able to post ever since. I told him to try and boot with only the cpu, ram, video and harddrive.

Still didn't work.

Did he have the HSF on the first time he booted?

Have him do what you suggested, but also pull it out and set it on a piece of cardboard/wood type substance. The first few times people biuld a PC, they often dont properly mount a mobo in a case causing a short. Pulling it out of the case will tell you if this is the case or not.

Also try diff ram - cpu - PSU - video card if possible. Don't blame the mobo first, ECS mobos are less likely to fail than cheap PSUs or generic ram.
