I have a ECS K7S5A with 256 mo of RAM PC133 and sometime, when I boot my computer, at the memory countdown, they indicate that I have 256 mo but when I arrive in Wndows XP, in the "System" section in "Control Panel" they say that I have only 128 mo of RAM. But when I reboot my system Windows now detects my 256 mo of RAM. When Windows detects 128 mo, my system is more slow that when he detects 256 mo. Also, I found that the problem when my computer has been turned off for 20 minutes and more. When I turn off my computer and I boot it immediatly, the problem does not occur. But when I turn off my computer and I boot it 20 minutes later, the problem occurs. But, each time the memory countdown at the boot of my computer shows 256 mo. My bios is configured to "Quck memory countdown", maybe it can help you. I don't think that is my memory who is broken because at the boot on the computer, 256 mo is always indicated in the countdown.
