I have put together 2 systems using this board. The first was a couple of months ago and went flawlessly. Put together, istall OS and move it out.

The second I am in the middle of doing now. I got the bios error on first boot. I done what was mentioned earlier and quickly had the OS up and running. The next day I fired the machine up to do updates on windows and drivers. It rebooted a couple of times like after a driver install. All of a sudden it would not post no beep no video. I reseated memory and video card several times. I bought a new battery and reset the cmos still nothing. I rma'd it back to newegg. My replacement should be here today. :)

I would like to add to the memory discussion. I just bought for the system I am building 512Meg of sdram. I spent the same amount as what 256 Meg of DDR would have cost at Crucial. The 512 I bought was from Crucial. I found one of those 15% off links and got in on free shipping. $54 for 512Meg of sdram. At Crucial the 3x3x3 is usually within a dollar of the 2x2x2.

Thanks for the link. Buzz2b

Lookin for some help . . .

I can't get my ecs k7s5a to recognize the pc133 ram or the full amc 1600+ cpu. Instead, the AIDA32 analyzer says I have 2 256 sdram sticks running at pc100 and a amc 1045 (5x199). I have replaced the power supply. Any ideas?

[edited for bulky info that was not useful. Part of the problem was the bios, but the board still freezes--from the boards, it sounds like it may still be a power supply problem or using two sticks of ram]

Without going into great detail, I'd say that you should first set your memory timings at 133/133 in the BIOS, (that will get your CPU recognized properly) and then consider updating your BIOS.
BTW, this..."I can't get my ecs k7s5a to recognize the pc133 ram or the full amc 1600+ cpu. Instead, the AIDA32 analyzer says I have 2 256 sdram sticks running at pc100 and a amc 1045 (5x199). doesn't help and doesn't make much sense. I can only gather that you have an "AMD" (not amc) 1600+ CPU but it (the BIOS) says it is something else. As far as the RAM is concerned, setting it properly in the BIOS should "cure" your troubles.
Also, as I mentioned in a much earlier post, if you go to
this site you can find a great deal of information that should help.
