Does anyone know what this means? Two beeps followed by a short pause, then eight beeps followed by a longer pause and then two beeps followed by one beep.

This is a brand new system, ECS K7S5A w/ AMD Duron 1000mhz. Right now I have just the mobo (not mounted in the case) with cpu/heatsink and one stick of SDRAM connected to an AMD approved 350w power supply. I know the PS and memory are in good working order. I have reseated the memory and CPU.

One question I have, I put a little dab of the thermal grease on the center of the CPU and when I placed the heatsink over top I am affraid it might have run over on to the rest of the cpu. Could that potentially be a problem?

Thanks!

Don't sweat it asm0, your having 1 of the most commonly occuring issues with the K7S5A :) I've seen literally hundreds of post with this problem. All you need to do is reseat the AGP card. It may require several reseatings as the AGP and ram slots on the K7S5A are notoriously tight. Also, depending on your case and mounts you may need to leave the mounting screw a little loose to keep it from pulling the back end of the AGP card out just enough to lose contact with the connectors. As to the thermal paste, as long as it was a small dab you've got no worries M8 :)

DAPUNISH,
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I was so ready to RMA this board. I have another K7S5A that worked flawlessly so I never suspected the AGP slot. So does that mean this thing won't boot without any video card??
