ECS K7S5A and Hollywood Plus

I set up my base system over the weekend, and had no problems. AMD 1.4Ghz, 512MB PC2100 Crucial, ATI Radeon LE (bought it right before the price dropped on the regular one...), 40 Gig hard drive, DVD drive... and everything worked fine.

So I decided to pull the best elements of my old system and throw them into my new box -- Soundblaster Live! 5.1, CDRW drive, and SigmaDesigns Hollywood+ RealMagic DVD decoder.

At that point I tried to start the system.

Tried being the operative word.

After tracking down the first error I had (8 beeps with AMI Bios = Video card problem -- mainly the card not being fully seated), the system continuously hung on "Checking NVRAM.." I searched high and low, and found only one reference -- one saying that this would occur when the system was checking for harddrives. So I played with that... and nothing happening.

Finally, in a fit of frustration, I pulled my Hollywood+ out (from PCI slot 1, if that matters), and tried again.

And everything worked.

So apparently, something's wrong between my Hollywood+ and the ECS board. Does anyone have any ideas? I gave up last night (it was 5am...), so I didn't check if it was simply the slot I was in...

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

can't really say man, i had a similar problem installing my RAID card on this board. only difference was that i only solved the problem by putting it in the first slot. it might be a slot problem. try going top down on the pci slots tonite. hope this helps.
