Just got ECS K7S5A, 350 watt PS maxtop, XP 1600. Installed 256 memory, cpu and generic video card with floppy to see if I could get A: prompt before going ffurther. I get 1 beep then Checking for NVRAM.. then nothing else. I've tried reseating mem and video, clearing cmos etc. I have gotten into Bios on 3 occasions and memory counts up, cpu is detected and floppy is detected. But for the most part I can't even get into the bios. Any suggestions would be appreciated!!! Thanks

Is there another name for that PS you are using? "Maxtop" is not listed on AMD's Recommended Power Supplies Page. This board is very picky about power at times and this would be the first place to check. Also, make sure to start with your RAM timings set to Normal/Standard settings. You can change later. What is the combined rating for the 3.3 + 5 Volt rails on that Power Supply?

Thanks for the responses guys. I finally figured it out after pulling my hair out all day. I had initially thrown in a PCI video card, memory and floppy just to get it to A prompt for a quick test (turned out all day) to confirm board was working. After exhausting all I could think of I put in the AGP video card I actually intended to use and it booted right up. It apparently did not like the PCI video card that I have used in the past just to give a quick test to the board. Should have just put the damn thing together in the first place and would have saved myself a lot of time. Up and running now. Did not do a clean install so am having some software issues will have to see if I can work them out or not, but the board seems to be doing quite well. Thanks again :)
