ECS H87H3-M3 memory problems

I built a small NVR system using this MB and a Pentium 2020 (Haswell) but I seem to have a memory compatibility problem. I ordered an 8GB set of Geil Evo Potenza 1600 to use with it but it won't even post. I stuck an old set of 2GB Patriot 1333 in and it booted right up. So I tried a 8GB stick of Corsair Ballistix 1600 from a different computer and it won't even post either. All 1.5v and all setting are on AUTO. Corsairs site shows that the slow CL11 stuff is compatible but I can't imagine that you can't use modern higher performance CL9 memory in a H87 board. Am I missing something or is the board bad?

The Pentium is limited to 1333.

The SPD chip may be trying to set default at 1600 which will not work.

Put the ram into a system that can run 1600 and see if it posts.

I suspected that so I tried setting the speed manually to 1333 in the bios and it still wouldn't post... but I suppose it needs to post for the bios to set the speed to 1333 if it is 1600 SPD memory. I'll get another set of 8GB 1333 memory and hopefully that fixes it.

Were you able to resolve the memory speed issue? I also recently purchased this motherboard along with the g3220 cpu which has a 1333fsb also. Wondering if there will be some memory compatibility issues.
