ECS D6VAA for distrib

Has anyone used the D6VAA dual before in a distributed processing situation. I may build my own sort of 'crackrack' in the future. I mean, for $76 it's an absolute score. Especially since I heard it can overclock to a GHz from a 700MHz FCPGA proc. Plus I found a Codgen Mid-ATX case with a 350w ps for only $40. at Ucdweb

(Not don't say anything because I'm not using AMD procs! 😛 )

I have one, have been having real problems with it running W2k, or should I say insttallung 2k, so far I havent been able to, although I could be a problem with my hardware, old stuff and I know 2k dosent like that, I havent had any problems with my vp-6, msi 694D or epox d6va (or what ever they call ir).

I think Id spend a few extra bucks and get a epox or msi, I can get the epox locally with raid for about 110 last time I checked which is same price as the ecs with raid

Also, getting HSF's to fit is big problen, none of the orbs will work... has a bunch of capacitors about 1/64 of inch from sockets

but if you really want to go for it id say do, cause it is pretty stable at least with 1 processor, but for 76 bucks so are lots of other single processor boards

one more thing, it dosent overclock and the 2cpu article saying it did and had voltage adjustments in the bios was wrong, the guy got an engineering sample not a production model, i think the article corrected that though..

I wanted to overclock it but besides the voltage, couldnt get cooling on it
so you gets what you pay for i guess
