ecs 755-A2 question (I know, I know but for $20.00)

Hi all,

I read the reviews on this board and they were actually very good at stock. Picked up a new one for $20.00 and built a system with a Sempron .90 palermo 3100.

Just for info I have had zero problems for the last 2 months.

Has anybody used this board for an inexpensive build?

In all the review it says the max I can raise the htt to is 232. Mine can raise to 255. I cant find the bios revision that has this.

I was able to set the htt to 245, divided the ram, and easily hit 2.2 with no temp increases. Ran 3dmark 1 and 3 with numerous times with a 9600 pro (passively cooled) and had no problems

My question is this. Since this revision has 255 as the max and not 232 does anybody know if it also has an AGP lock?

Figured I would try to max out the htt to 255.

I have google for 12 hours and cant find anything about the lock being added on the new revision or bios. (Only sempron support)

Thanks, Leigh

The board's quite OK, no complaints so far, no compatibility issues with anything I threw at it so far (and that's quite a range of cards old and new). I didn't try overclocking on any build I've made with those - I rather spend the money on a CPU and graphics that are faster to begin with than buy a ridiculously expensive overclocker's mainboard and have none left for a proper CPU/GFX combo.

I think ECS boards are very solid choices, especially if you run them at stock settings. I had an ECS dual PIII mobo and it was better than the Abit one I had before it.

I'm rather hoping that ECS will produce a feature rich ATI RS482/SB600 motherboard. I'm sure the price will be lower than what Sapphire and the other Tier 1 manus. will ask.

peter can you check to see what bios you are running and what the max htt you can use. I just have the feeling on the revision I have that the PCI/AGP CAN be locked.

Thanks for the site!!! Went to it. Somebody asked the exact same question but nobody has answered yet................boo

I said already I don't care about and never tried overclocking. I'm running the latest BIOS, and the system reference clock is at 200 MHz where it belongs.

Oh, and please do the community a favor and don't call the system reference clock "HTT". It is not. (And don't call it FSB either.) Thank you.

I'm just asking you to get the terminology right. This isn't hard, and it helps the next person understand their system. If they're reading threads that contain information rather than childish insults, that is.
