Hey guys, is there a known issue with the ECS 755-A2 board (Athlon 64 3200+) and the Radeon AIW 7500 graphics card? As soon as I load the Radeon drivers, windows starts crashing and gives an error message blaming the ATI drivers. This is a new board in my system using my exisiting AIW. I've never had this trouble before with my old ASUS board and this vid card. Anyone know of anything?

And the latest Radeon drivers not the ancient ones that came with the card?

My 755-A2 has seen a 9200SE and a 9550SE so far. Sorry I can't try a 7500 anymore, none left.

btw, you are NOT supposed to install vendor's AGP drivers anymore if you're running Windows XP service pack 2. You are supposed to use Microsoft's. I just remembered my notebook crashed in a very similar manner after I'd installed the SiS AGP driver onto it. (This has an integrated SiS graphics unit that pretends to be AGP.)

Thanks for the tips. I'll work on it today and post the results. Since this was a clean install of my XP Home, it didn't have SP2 on it yet. I have since downloaded and installed SP2 on the system and will try to install the latest ATI drivers to see what happens now. Man, this was supposed to be an INCRIMENTAL upgrade! I don't want to have to buy a new vid card yet!

Thanks again. I'll let you know what's up....

Got SP2 installed and then installed the newest ATI drivers. Got the same lock ups and windows crashes.

Here's an update of what I've tried so far:

1. Original factory ATI install CD with XP Home SP1: Fail
2. Latest ATI drivers with XP Home SP1: Fail
3. Latest ATI drivers with XP Home SP2: Fail
4. XP Home SP2 with ATI graphic driver download from Windows Update: Fail
5. Updated ECS SiS AGP with latest version, then installed latest ATI driver package: Fail

I know the AIW 7500 is good because I've been using it flawlessly for two years before I upgraded my mobo and processor this week. This only started when I plugged it into this mobo. I don't have another vid card here to try in the board. I seem to remember the original 755-A having a conflict with Radeon 7500, but read that it was corrected with the 755-A2.

I'm at a total loss for what to try next. Any help is greatly appreciated...

Screw it. I figured out what would fix it: a new Radeon 9200 card. I'm fifty bucks poorer, but all is working well. Thanks for the help, Peter.
