ECS 671T-M

ECS 671T-M

I'm getting this board for Xmas as part of a Q6600 proc & mobo combo,

going to be running it with

2GB OCZ DDR2 PC6400 800Mhz (will run at 667Mhz due to board)
Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.4Ghz
XFX 8800GT 512MB GDDR3
Corsair 450VX PSU

will have to use this board for at least a little while, if you don't think it's up to snuff can you recommend a better board with good price to perfomance, don't really want to pay more than $50-$60 for a board, because I'll also be looking to pick up a new case and CPU heatsink

This board was in the black friday $199 combo special. Apparantly, it works, despite showing no support for this cpu.

There may be better choices out there. I can confirm that this board supports the Q6600 but according to the ECS website the memory architecture is single channel.

My friends ECS board kinda sucks, it especially sucks for overclocking. We had to reset his CMOS because of a few Mhz OC on his cpu made it not post.

It's a free board, for non-overclockers. Really can't complain. I use ecs boards cause I don't overclock.

how much of a difference will I notice running single channel,

my current 478 board supports dual channel DDR1, and I have 2 GB of mixed ram in their

but I used to have 1 GB of Corsair XMS2 DDR400, and I honestly never noticed a huge difference, the computer seems to run better with 2 GB of mixed ram at loose timings,

if there is a big difference does anyone know of a CHEAP board, that supports dual channel with moderate OC abilitiy, I'd like to clock up to at least 3.0Ghz so I don't have any bottlenecking with the 8800GT

Depends on whether you need micro atx or onboard video. Neither of those features sport much in the way of overclocking. The p35 is still the best value for overclocking.

Does anyone know if this motherboard works correctly with the BSEL mod? I have a Fry's combo, this motherboard and a Celeron 430 (half of an E2140). I can overclock to 255 mhz FSB (8 x 255 == 2040), but if this board will support the BSEL mod, I should be good to go at 8 x 266.

Yes, I know this is a piece of junk, but at $59.99 for a motherboard, cpu, and HSF, I couldn't pass it up.

For that matter, has anyone tried the BSEL mod on a Celeron 430?

Quick update here. The BSEL mod does work, but not the way I expected. The motherboard booted without complaints after the mod, but only at 200. But now I can go into the CMOS setup and choose 267, and it works. Before, if I chose 267 or even 260, the board would not POST, requiring a CMOS clear. Strange, but true.....

Heads up if you try to use the SPDIF connector- the pins are mislabeled in the manual- the digital out is actually pin 2 not 1! ( I think pin 1 is 5V and pin 4 is ground).
This caused me no end of grief- hopefully this post will help out some other poor soul looking for a reason why they cannot get digital out on this piece of #$%^ motherboard
