ive just built a pc with 6100pm-m2 mobo, 5200 dual core athlon, 8600 1gig geforce gpu with 450 watt psu. it will only work with 1 gig sticks of ram. if i put a 2gig stick in it blue screens as windows is starting. so far ive tried 6 different sticks of 2 gig 5300 ddr2 and it wont have it but does on 2 1gig sticks. i want 4gigs but there is only 2 slots, any ideas?

Have the latest BIOS release? GeForce6100PM-M2 V2.0

If so, do these modules use non-standard timings or voltage? Given its value orientation, ECS doesn't do much compatibility testing with 'performance' or 'enthusiast' memory lines that eschew JEDEC compliance. I would recommend modules that strictly comply with JEDEC parameters and voltage (not more than 1.9V).

Any of these should do:

CORSAIR 2 x 2GB DDR2-800 5-5-5-18 @ 1.9V

A-DATA 2 x 2GB DDR2-800 5-5-5-18 @ 1.8V

MUSHKIN 2 x 2GB DDR2-800 5-5-5-18 @ 1.8V

The fact that these are JEDEC standard @ DDR2-800 should give you some added assurance for operating them @ DDR2-667.

If the memory you have is JEDEC standard, submit a technical inquiry with ECS. ECS might not have done much testing (if at all) with 2GB modules under the current BIOS.
