Economics really conservativized me up.

I spent a couple weeks reading the Mankiw Principles of Economics, and that turned me more moderate than anythign else. I'm still socially liberal though.

Anyone went through a similar experience?

I've been socially liberal/economically conservative for as long as I can remember. "The freer the market, the freer the people." Welcome to the the Libertarian party, the political party where intelligence is the only prerequisite to joining. It sounds like you will be welcome.

i have a masters in econ.

in theory, i believe in supply and demand. i believe in a free market.

in real life, i think the govt needs to help with transitions. changes in market factors. for eg. shifts in industries. we've gone from a manufacturing economy to a service economy, this means a lot of peoples skills have become obsolete.

my eco professor last semester was a very liberal guy. he was ready to go to cuba supporting castro in the 60s. then his mentor milton friedman. big change.
