Who would have thought that taking steps to reduce death/sickness would be beneficial economically?

It is almost like sick and dead people are unable to work! GSP is associated with working!? What an odd connection.

LOL!

Even with a 8.3% unemployment CA is still kicking the shit out of all the republican shit-states! CA has its issues, but even on its worse day it leaves the repugnant lead states so far behind it is just sad.

lol literally the bottom of the barrel shit stain rung of society.

Did the study consider that Florida derives a much greater % of GDP from hospitality based jobs than a lot of other states? It's not like anyone uses cruise ships, visits theme parks, take extended trips to the beach, attend conventions, or any number of other touristy things. 14% of the jobs are tourism based.

Florida is at about 6%, according to PEW. Like most Trumpers, you have no basis in reality.

Nevada is near 16%, Hawaii near 10%.

Get a clue.

Nope. Didn't even think about it. In a study examining economic activity, the idea of trying to categorize each state by impact according to their predominant industrial sectors wasn't part of the consideration.

Never crossed their mind I'm sure. UCLA is a bunch of hacks.

My point exactly, even with a 8.3 unemployment rate, CA is still recovering faster then the rest of the US. High wages, faster growth, better outcomes. With a much higher obtainable peak GSP with plenty of room for growth.

Meanwhile, in republicanstan, economies linger on as a covid wrecked ruin, unable to recover despite claiming high employment. There is no room for growth through jobs, and nobody who wants to invest anything in the fly over states of incompetent leadership.

Your ability to have a large population doesn't mean the average standard of living is worth a shit lol.

So, by suger tits are you refering to the CA EDD handing out money to any unemployed person like candy? Because unlike republicanstan, here in CA those unemployed are taken care of. Here we put people first over rich people getting richer.

Your red state brothers are the poorest pieces of shit states with the lowest standards of living in the country.

Please. You and Florida take those garbage states and leave the union.

You are dragging us all down . Texas killed hundreds of its residents because they wanted to be so independent during a cold spell

Third world country shit.

Plus killing women's rights. You people are backwards.

The only reason people go there is because it's relatively cheap. No civilized person would want to be around so many regressive confederate flag wearing scumbags other wise

Mask adherence may explain better health outcomes, but the article is actually saying that states like CA did better than states like Fla or TX economically speaking (GDP), meaning the increased lockdown and duration of lockdowns did not hurt those economies relatively speaking.

I say suck it DeSantis. He went on and on about lockdowns harming the economy, and not only did we have fewer per capita cases and deaths than FLA, but we did better on GDP as well.

I guess it all depends on which set of numbers you choose. According to this Back-to-Normal index from Moody's Analytics and CNN Business, Florida's economy is 101% back to normal while California's is only 90%.
