I would have to see one in person. I dont have the need/want for an Echo now so I'm not sure what more the show could do more that would help me. Maybe if I had a busy life.

What do you need it for?
I don't. I'm simply trying to talk myself out of this "deal." But my bank account is bulging and I suffer from general geek gadget lust. Won't you help?

Someone brought one into the office a few days ago to demo and I was not impressed with the responsiveness of the device.

Not interested in any Alexa devices, or smart home devices in general.
I had to burn a bunch of of SYW points when they changed the expiration date on them, so I got an Echo. Then I got a free Echo dot as a part of a Direct TV deal. I haven't used either, but I did get and use this Amazon Dash Wand for less than $7. I use it as a secondary timer for when I have multiple things going in the kitchen but you can also ask it stuff like, "What is the capital of Burundi?" and it will tell you.

I don't want any sort of always-on microphone in my home, especially not one that connects to a company that collects information on people for a living.

I bought an echo plus and two echo spots. The smart home functionality is nice but I mainly got them so that I could: a) replace my wife's alarm clock upstairs; and b) use them as intercoms so I don't have to yell at my kids all the damn time. Not the best reasons, but good enough for me.

I saw the echo show at a friends house and was not impressed with its responsiveness of design. The size and blockiness of it would never fly with my wife. Hence the echo spots.
