echo effect for your voice recording?

Hi,

Basically what I need is something like Karaoke style echo microphone for computer. I read a poem into a regular desktop computer microphone and I want some echo effect added to my voice. Well, I know there are hardware microphone pre-amp/mixer for the effect, but I am wondering if I can do it only with software, hopely not too expensive. And if there is a software like that, can it do the job real-time, as opposed to post-recording process? Thanks.

If it's just a wav file you can do it with the MS Sound Recorder that comes with windows. But it doesn't do it real time and it's also very basic, but you might already have it.

Nero wave editor gives you much more control, but still not real time (as far as I know, never had a reason to use it much)
