Echo cancellation for video calls...

Good Morning! I have long since used the Anandtech site, but this is my first time posting in the forums.. Hope you guys can help!

My question is in regards to business needs for the company I work for. I have some basic knowledge of AV, but am trying to find out the best way to get echo cancellation for our video conferences that we have for training purposes.

We are looking at getting a Shure MX 392 for our microphone, but the issue that I am concerned with is an echo occurring for those joining into the training from out of office. We have overhead speakers, and in the past when those conferencing in speak, they hear an echo. The only solution we have had has been to turn down the volume of the speakers so the mic, which was just a little Samson go mic, wouldn't pick up what was coming out of the speakers.

Anyone have a relatively inexpensive solution for these issues?

Any omnidirectional mic will echo if your speakers are facing them. If you get unidirectional mics with noise canceling, then you won't get any echo. (Almost all bluetooth microphones operate like this.) Of course, then you'd have to get multiple microphones if you have more than one person in on the conference.

Really the problem is using overhead speakers for videoconferencing. It would make more sense to use one of these. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA8N23710088 They're designed so they won't echo themselves.

You may consider a software based echo cancellation (e.g. SoliCall Pro). Such a solution should improve the experience regardless the position/type of your mic/spk.
