Just wondering as I saw 60 minutes, 20/20 or dateline (They are all the sameto me) where they profiled the Echo Boomers (22 years old and younger I think) and how they have been raised.

It appears that Echo Boomers were taught its okay to finish second the important thing is they participated in anything they did in school or sports. They are given trophys just for playing sports even if they finished last.

Imagine the US took that approach with the race to the moon or anything else we did. Look at WWII had we settled for finishing second everyone in France would be speaking German.

I do not feel anything but first is anything special.

Am I way of base?

I got $20 bucks on all three shows talking out of their collective butt.

the media likes to makes these grand pronouncements and follow them up with anecdotal evidence, without having any hard, statistical proof that such trends or generations exist.

Sound like a bunch of useless pussies too me, but then they're also the group that has a lot of metrosexuals. The PC liberalist ideals have watered down and pussified vast numbers of people. With pushover parents who want to be friends before parents the result is useless dick-licking children who're good for nothing besides watching mtv and spending money at banana republic.

Yeah, but that's where all the fun comes from :D

I never understood this. Why was the goal of the 'Space Race' to be the first to get to the moon? Why wasn't it the first to get an orbiting satellite, or the first to get a man into space and down safely?

seriously, anyone remember the summer of the shark a couple years back?

when all the majors television news outlets were talking about all the shark attacks... and by the end of the summer, shark attacks were just about the same as they had been for every other summer.

Well from what I see, mediocrity is awarded much more now than it has been in the past.
