I've layed out this message so we can update the Recruitment and Welcome Threads with info regarding this new DC project.

ECC2-109
This is a distributed computing project to solve the Certicom ECC2-109 challenge.
In general it can be described as a whole lot of computers from all over the world, all of them working together in n attempt to have a collision. Each of the computers runs a program that computes DP (Distinguished Points) values. Each time a computer finds a DP, it is uploaded to a main server. The main server then checks to see if anyone has uploaded a matching DP (this is known as a collision). If a collision happens (two matching DP values exist), then the Certicom challenge is solved!
The Certicom ECC2-109 challenge has a prize of $10,000 for successful completion of the challenge. If the eCompute ECC2-109 project is successful in completing this challenge, we plan to distribute the prize in the following proportions.
- 50% split evenly for the two submitters of the matching DP values
- 50% split among the eCompute ECC2-109 project developers

I'm on and off with this one, I cant decide if i want to stay with it or do the new DNet one. They are both nice, but DNet messed up so bad on the 64 one........

For ppl looking for an easy DC project to run, this one is great easy to set up and easy to run :)

It is not in Beta. As soon as DPs were submitted it went out of beta. According to Jay Berg everything counts. Teams might have to be reformed when the stats are all the way live, but everything counts. So any DPs you have done are valid and will stay with you when you join the TeAm.

How can I join TA in this project? Do I have to wait for an e-mail?
If I choose to send my password to me, my e-mail address is not known. But I already did 80 DP's on 2 different machines, which are visible in the client.

They send out an email so you can activate your account.

After that you have to login into the stats server so you can select your Team.

They must have some problem right now.

When I first submitted DP's it took 4 days to get the email.

TA mini-team Irc.Deception.Net now active in ECC2 ;)

What sucks however, is that they update every six hours for the stats :(
