Under normal 3D gaming and regular windows usage, is regular non-ecc ddr fine? What are the benefits/disadvantages of ECC? when should it be used?

non-ecc is fine. Most motherboards don't support ECC in the first place and it is usually only used on servers.

Gamers don't need ECC.

ECC keeps your computer from locking up should memory error occur as a result of cosmic ray or some other ionized radiation. This is critical on servers that is left on for weeks unsupervised.

Yo gamerz can just reboot the computer if it freezes(not too likely)
