ECC ram

I can get a cheap 512mb stick of 2100 ECC ram off a friend. I currently have a 512 stick of 2100 d-imm ram. Will they work together for me to have 1gig total ram? or can i not mix types of ram?

is the ram registered? or non-parity?

ecc/non-parity ran can work in most any desktop motherboards (even boards that dont support ecc. the ecc features are just not used) but if its ecc/registered then you are pretty much limited to useing it only in a server type motherboard that supports ecc/registered dimms

as a side note: "unbuffered/non-parity" is considered the "normal" stuff
