ECC memory recommended for a business computer?

I use my computer for gaming as well as business purposes for the company I work for that sometimes involve many of calculations. I don't have ECC memory installed on my system and my CPU does not support ECC memory. I have an i7 4930k. Would I be better of using a low-end Xeon and ECC memory if I use my system for business purposes as well?

Do you have a system of regularly backing up your data to one or two external sources?
Do you have the funds for a CPU/Memory upgrade?
