hi all

does anyone have any experience buying cars off of ebay's ebaymotors? some of the prices look really good but i'm not sure if there are any catches or what. any insight would be great.

Yea, I bought my Land Cruiser there. Happy so far (4 months/7K miles).
I'd never buy a car unseen though. I had my brother look it over & drive it for me since he was only about 5 miles from the seller. and I still wasn't willing to go very high on it.
 
there is good deals from honest ebayers but they you got shady deals from the shady
bayers.

Its luck of the draw unless you see/drive the car in person. Go look at their feedback. See if they sell other cars and if the other people are happy or not.

Take your time and bid wisely is all I can say. Don't rush into anything.
 
I bought a van last Oct, site unseen. Granted, it was a $1900 van, so I wasn't too terribly worried about getting scammed. I flew into Chicago to get it. For the most part, I feel I got a decent deal.

BUT, there were a few things that I wish I had known about beforehand.

my advice, ask every question know to man.
Do research on the vehicle, visit forums and find out what common failure items are for the vehicle, ask related questions
DO NOT give any money (screw the $500 within 48hrs of the auction close BS) before you have examined the vehicle
and finally, ask questions
 
I bought a 2001 Altima off Ebay. Somewhat sight unseen. I paid a guy in houston to check it out and send pics. Flew out to get it and couldn't be happier.
 
Be VERY careful when buying a car on ebay. I bought a 94 Ford Escort from a less than honest seller, title was fubared took me 3 months and some extra cash to get it fixed, and then the farking motor and transmission died at the same time 3 months after that.
