I'm selling moderate amount of Mushkin PC2100 DDR RAM on Ebay.

The Q is, Should i mention the brand name that it's Mushikin or not?

My pros and cons::

pros: Yes, because people will recognize the brand and will buy it more likely at a higher price

cons: No, they'll recognize the brand and goto mushkin.com and buy the ram for the cheap price rather than buying it from you

pros2: yea but Ebay people are dumb, avg consumer won't do that

cons2: are you sure?

Do it.

People on eBay will buy ANYTHING. And they usually pay more than MSRP. It seems people just get caught up in the moment, and keep on bidding.

One thing to keep in mind. If you were shopping for memory, would you search for "DDR" and get a bazillion hits, or search for "Mushkin" or "Corsair", and get a few hits from a reliable brand?

I don't think they would go to Mushkin.com. I mean, Amazon sells almost everything and most stuff on eBay sells for higher than what you can get from Amazon. And you can't tell me an eBay user doesn't know what Amazon is!

pros3: people think you have an exotic pc part and will pay more for it. after of course you explain who/what mushkin is, and why it's better than no-name RAM.

The people on Ebay never check to see what the item they are bidding on is really worth. I've sold stuff for more than I paid for it new! :cool:

I concur that people on ebay will buy anything. I've seen items marked *VERY RARE* *OUT OF PRINT* *HARD TO FIND* sell for three times what I could buy them for at my local Wal-Mart. Go figure.
