Ok, i sold something on ebay, the person paid me via paypal to my sister's bank account and told me to ship it via regular mail instead of priority (which i usu. use). So i go to the post office and the clerk tells me that i can't put delivery confirmation on regular mail only priority. She recommends i get Certificate of Mailing(it costs 90cents compared to 55 cents for delivery confirmation) so i'm like ok fine. I ship the thing and the person claims they never got it. I was checking her rating on ebay and she has 3 positive and 1 negative and i have a rating of 66. I"m sure she's trying to swindle me out of this thing, but apparently paypal says i have no case because i have no way of tracking whether or not they received the item. Even though i have the certificate of mailing and the email telling me to ship regular mail. What should i do? Will paypal take money out of the bank account w/o my permission? I want to close that bank account so they can't. Is that possible?

Yep, you sure can use delivery confirmation on first class packages now. Shouldn't the post office have a signature from the person because it was certified?

As long as the item is over.75" thick, you can get DC on First-Class Mail. Always get DC when shipping an ebay item...just for reasons like this.

Ill have to call usps up. It was a southwest airline ticket that i sold, it was expensive around $285. She told certificate of mailing which is different from certified mail. So, if i close the bank account that paypal has, will they still be able to get my money? i dont like dealing w/ paypal at all, they wouldn't listen to me unless i have some kind of tracking number.

I would go to the USPS office you mailed the package from, hopefully the employee who mis-informed you is still working there, speak with a supervisor.

Bring documentation with you.

If you insure a package for more than $50, they will have to sign to get it.

Over $50.01- $100 insurance is $2.20

Signature confirmation is $1.80 or $1.35 if you use the electronic rate.

Southwest RR tickets are not replaceable if lost, stolen or whatever. You will be able to see if someone has used it by logging into your Southwest account and checking on it. Delivery confirmation is not enough for paypal when your item is over $250; you need a signature and many other hard requirements. If she does a chargeback on her credit card, you are SOL as paypal won't help. It's a matter of how much you want your paypal account. I personally would try to deal with Southwest and try cancel the ticket and get them to reissue the RR ticket (?).

Yeah - you know it's going to be BS if they don't go for the faster shipping if it's going to cost you just about the same... I would've just given it to them anyways since it was such a high ticket item.

What's to say that she really is telling the truth, and did not receive the item? You are placing bets that she is lying. However, in either case it's your responsibility to make sure the buyer gets the product. Since you skimped out a paying for USPS Priority (e-delivery confirmation is free) and tried to save ~4.00, you are now paying for it with headaches and frustration. Time is money....End of story....
