Someone bought an item using paypal and requested that I send it to a different address. How do I confirm this account was not hacked? Thanks.

I wouldn't ship it to any address other than the one tied to the paypal account.

QFT. If you do ship to a different address, you aren't protected against chargebacks. Simply tell them you're sorry, but you will only ship to Paypal Verified addresses. If they balk, then it's probably a hacked account and you're better off relisting.

Don't ship to an unconfirmed address. I got burned on $160 earlier this year because I did so, and I learned the hard way that Paypal could care less. Just remember that Paypal will ALWAYS side with the buyer, not the seller.

EDIT: I also wanted to add that I've started putting in any auctions or even sales here in the FS/FT forum, that if you do not provide a confirmed address, I will refund your money minus the Paypal fees I incur (and eBay fees if applicable). Always cover your bases.

Thanks. Since I do not have my Paypal account linked to a bank account, if I request that a check be sent to me for the amount and then ship the item, there is no way for them to take the money back is there?

Not if you let the check clear the bank first. Now if you're talking about an e-check, and not an actual mailed paper check, then I don't know.
