ebay: who pays when a deal goes bad?

I don't necessarily think eBay should be accountable.

i agree

Me too.

I think eBay is just providing the tools, and users should be responsible for their own actions. That's like suing a hammer company because an idiot hit someone else on the head with one.

Or a woman suing a restaurant because a coffee cup that says "Warning, Contents Hot" burned her. Or a person suing a gun maker because the gun killed someone. It happens, and they have won. 🙁

If this will finally help get rid of the scammers & crooks on ebay, I'm all for it. I agree, it's not ebay's problem when the buyer isn't happy with what they bought, but when a seller takes your money & ebay tells you there's nothing they can do and you should go fvck yourself, they deserve to get sued.

I agree. Ebay's stance generally seems to be "screw you guys, we're not going to help you. We're too busy counting our profits"
If I read correctly, one of the suits alleges that Ebay refused to remove a defamatory remark. While I don't think Ebay is responsible for policing all the comments, I *DO* think that it's their responsibility to react to such requests.

I jus think ebay could do more to help individuals, and realizing it will cut in on profits, it will improve the overall expirience on ebay. I've had nothing but great sales on ebay, but i know plenty of people who've had headaches, It'd be nice to see them step up, even though legally they don't have to, as a gesture of kindness to their customers.

but then again, i should just pop my idealized capitalist-can-and-are-nice bubble, and just accept the fact that ebay is run fine.
