Hey everyone, I got an email this morning that looked something like this:

Dear eBay Member,

We at eBay are sorry to inform you that we are having problems with the billing information of your account. We would appreciate it if you would visit our website [eBay Billing Center] and fill out the proper information that we are needing to keep you as an eBay member.

If you think you have received this email as an error, please visit our website and fill out the neccesary information. That way we can make sure that everything is up to date! Again here is the link to our website. eBay Billing Center

It contained the normal ebay logos in the proper places and menu and stuff at the bottom. The "ebay Billing updates" website was: http://www.ebay-updates.org/ (it looks like it has gone down now) I'm assuming this wasn't legit. (Whois.org search looks like I'm right)

So I just wanted to put the word out there that this really formal eBay letter is going around and it is probably a fraud to get people to enter their bank information. I can only guess how many people this might have hit. If you know anymore about this please post!

Thanks.

In all seriousness.... What kind of moron falls for these emails?

Not a day goes by that someone talks about a fake paypal or ebay email....

What's so hard to understand - Ebay and Paypal do not ask for your social security number, password, cc, etc via email.

Go to ebay.com or paypal.com, log into your account, that's the only way you enter in information.... not through some crappy email.

Yes... well I am aware of this, but I am simply trying to pass the information along so other people might know that one has been circulating as of late...

I still refuse to use either eBay or PayPal. It's not because of the scams popping up around these two businesses, but until they get their acts together regarding the feedback/taking money out of your account even if you did nothing wrong thing, I won't support such a disorganized business.
