I bought some stuff from some scammers on ebay. I've notified paypal of the transactions and done a claim. Feels like its going nowhere. I got some advice from some badass ATOT'er earlier this month saying to do a credit card "chargeback"

Is this the best thing to do, paypal says to wait for 30 days. gah. What is the fastest way to recover my money in this situation? The TWO DIFFERENT sellers are not sending the items, should i let paypal handle it, or go ahead and start the chargeback on the CC?

Thanks for any advice, and btw, ebay does suck nowadays. Never buy anything of great value on there - I never will again.

And as soon as you do that, PayCrap closes your account. :D I'm not kidding either. PayCrap HAAATTTEEEESSSSS chargebacks, and I believe their ToS state that you may not do a chargeback against them (not that you can't, but as I said they tend to get really pissy about it).

Keep this in mind, if you do a chargeback against PayCrap, you will likely have your account closed and flagged, AND you run the risk of them possibly trying to recover funds if you have a linked bank account. Yes, they are so unscrupulous that they will actually take money out of your account without asking (kindof illegal, but their ToS says it and you agreed to it).

yes these are exactly the two sides of the arguement ive seen. Either chargeback and paypal complicates things, or wait for paypal and do chargeback when they're done.

either way im out the cash for about 90 days.

gees-um-petes this blows.

1. Move all of your remaining balance to your bank account.
2. Close any linked bank account you have with paypal, unless you can get the banks to put a stop-hold against paypal for any transaction.
3. File chargebacks on the last day you can with your CC, if chargeback period is longer than paypal's own 30day review period, then let paypal sort. Otherwise charge back after step 1-2.

Paypal is scum.

omg! Paypal & ebay are scum. and ebay is full of scum for sellers.

So sounds like you have been through this once or twice. I will go about these steps. they make sense.

Has anyone else ever been in this situation and/or has any advice to offer?

paypal isnt so bad, i think what it is i the paypal/ebay relationships.

i bought something on ebay paid for it on paypal, then ebay said i hadnt but paypal said i had.
i buy ESEA each month via paypal and they have no problems with it.

but yeah you should do a charge back it will get you a faster response then paypal

How exactly did you buy a laptop from a scammer seller?

Did they have like, 0 FB and you sent them 1100 via paypal or something?

What Paypal will do is drag this out until it's too late for you to dispute with you CC. Then they'll tell you they can't recover funds from the offender's account.

How much money did you pay these scammers?

How much do you currently have in you PP account?

These are questions you should consider before doing anything else.

Yes, I would like to know what happened if you don't mind? Did you purchase a laptop from someone with no feedback? If you don't mind...

it was two seperate deals that i bought about a 500 dollar laptop on ebay.

I am not a wise buyer it seems.

first guy had zero feedback. scammed

second guy had 43 feedback, scammed again, then ebay sends me a letter saying this guys account is indefinietely suspended, and to try and get my funds back asap.

this is the most horrible situation i've ever been in. the first guy with 0 feedback, i know everything about him, and could pull a "nick sitko - NSXprime.org" type deal if i needed to. the second ebayer, i know nothing about, except their paypal email addy.

re: first one, your own fault. Why would you buy something so expensive from a 0 FB eBayer. Makes no sense. I'd go internet vigilante on his ass.

re: second one, that's tough. Odds are PP will try to recover funds, only to discover there are no funds in buyer's account. Net result is you get shafted. You can try the PP chargeback, but I'd check up on their TOS/with your credit card company as I am not 100% familiar how that works.

My only suggestion is to read 13.1 and related paragraphs VERY carefully

<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/gen/ua/policy_pbp-outside#pbp-policy">https://www.paypal.com/us/c......outside#pbp-policy</a>

Not the "complaint policy", which is where your dispute is right now, but the "buyer protection policy"

yes that was my plan. I've done some stuff to get back at him so far. If anyone is computer savvy and wants to help me let me know. I've got some logs of our emails, chats, and transactions.

Like i said i know a lot about him, even his grandmas phone number, and his best friend on facebook.

Even his fulltiltpoker.com gambling aliases. I don't even know that guy in person, but i tried to do quite a bit of background research on him through email conversation before i agreed to send him the money.

Yes i was stupid for buying from a 0 FB ebayer. I acknowledge this and regret it. Please everyone is telling me that when i ask for help, it doesn't help to remind me of it.

Anyone know how to pull off an internet vigilante campaign. I will compensate for it!

i got my $ back from paypal from a fraudulent seller.
it took 1 week to file, 1-2 weeks before they decide to return my money, then 1 week for the money to show up.

the first one was STUPID but the second one got suspended for some BS reason and probably felt, screw this shit, and didn't send anything.

I got suspended for no reason as well with similar feedback and believe me, it was unjust and the last thing I wanted to happen to me.

do a chargeback, if everyone did a chargeback then paypal would be SHUT DOWN!
