eBay sniping sites?

Just wondering if anyone uses any eBay sniping sites that they'd recommend? Don't want something that isn't reputable and hacks my eBay account or anything.

I've never used one of these before but don't want to have to sit and baby sit auctions all the time.

Either a stand alone program or a website or whatever.

Thanks.

Yeah, you have to know what the item will move for. They are good at insuring you get an item, but you may end up paying a fortune for it because people like to bid high and bid often. But I scored Flight Simulator X for 8 bucks with the sniper service.

you don`t need a sniper service,,,that is really outdated....
I have won many items on ebay just inserting the highest amount I am willing to pay for an item. Sure say I say I am willing to bid $600 for an item and the highest bid is 439,,,well then I will be thye higest bidder and will win at 439.01 cent..even though my max is $600.....

That's great in theory if everyone used eBay in that way and you didn't care about getting as good of a deal as you can. However, most people on eBay don't put in their highest amount, they put in just enough to be the top bidder at that point in time and no more.

If you put in your highest amount at the beginning, they'll bump it up a few times to see how high it goes and you'll end up paying more. If you wait and put in your highest amount right at the end, they don't have time to go back in and update their bids so you get it for less most of the time.

It's better to put your max bid at the very end of the auction vs any other time. Having said that, not everyone will be at their computer or have access to eBay when the auction ends. Therefore, using a sniping service is basically having someone else put that max bid in for you at the last few seconds.

You either don't understand auctions or human nature or both.

I stumbled on Gixen yesterday but hadn't heard of JBidWatcher. Any reason to use one over the other for just basic bidding on an item once in a blue moon?

is JBid a local app while Gix is a website?

Everyone uses a sniper service! Trust me. If you want that item don't just enter some random "high" amount. Before I used a sniper service I would wait for the last 5 seconds of an auction and enter my amount. Then some dickhead would use a sniper service and within 2 seconds they had beat me every stinking time! People that like to throw a chunk of change at eBay should be shot! That's why shit goes so high on the god damn web site! It's bull shit!

if you put in your highest bid in the last 5 seconds and got out bid by someone with a higher bid, why would you be upset?

No one should ever be upset they lose an auction. You put in your Maximum bid which means you won't pay any more than that. If someone outbids you, that just means they thought it was worth more than you did. You can be upset that someone else wanted it more but shouldn't be upset that you lost because it sold for more than you thought it was worth anyway...

I thought with ebay you could enter the max amount you wanted to bid on something, then start at a lower amount and have it automatically increment your bid until the maximum is reached or you win the auction, whichever comes first.

Does it not work that way?

It does. The "problem" comes in with those that want an item so bad that they'll keep inching up their max bid until it gets ridiculously high or they win. By sniping you prevent others from casting several $5 increments until they get what they want. It also draws less attention to the auction.

That said, I actually don't have a problem with it now. Let the idiots send themselves to the poor house; I hold nothing against the auctioneers for making more $$$.

so the bottom liner is you really didn`t want to pay for the product anyways..all you wanted was a bargain!

actually I believe it is you who understands very little....

I don`t have time to be messing with these people who want to buy things at a discounted rate...I put my highest bid in and then leave..nothing ventured nothing gained...unless i win...

Last week I was looking for a track ir. This guy started an auction for a used one for 56 bucks. Right past the 3rd day mark the item cost was about $160 not including shipping. More than retail because people just kept bidding on it so early with 2 days to go thinking that they will get it.

I'm sure sometimes people just put a max bid in thinking it wont reach that ill get it for less. In this case, I'm sure the person who won wasn't too psyched to get a used device for more than retail. Or maybe he was...
