Ok, I have a snowboard that is being auctioned on ebay and I received an e-mail asking if I ship to ottawa, canada. I will be shipping it from florida. What is the difference if I ship within the states or outside of the united states? I also stated in the auction that the buyer is responsible for shipping costs.

Shipping will be close to what it would be for upper michigan/New York, plus maybe a little bit more for customs.

Go down to the post station and ask them how much, they should be able to tell you.

He/she also asked if I accept paypal. I saw some negative feedbacks and wondering what I should do? What if that person doesn't pay?

Paypal is relativly safe, not as safe as getting a money order first, but still better then shipping first. It's very possible to get ripped off using paypal, and then never get any money because paypal will never reimburse you from their own pocket, they always rely on the person sending the cash to have it in their account. If they pay you, and it's a stolen CC, for instance, you may get the notification of payment, send out the snowboard, and then find that paypal pulls the funds out of your account. I always request a check as soon as I get the payment, but thats not always 100% guaranteed you'll still see the money.

Don't get me wrong, paypal is great, but you need to be careful. If it bothers you, just ask for a money order in US funds.

Also, do not ship UPS to canada, there are significant customs fees for the package reciever that would proably not make him happy.

You might try posting a thread in for sale/trade (put in the thread title: OT: Shipping to canada questions or something similar so they know its a bit off topic), as several members trade with other canadian members.

Let's see out of the country bidder who has negative feedback and wants to use Paypal, most probably to pay you by credit card so that they can charge back on you later.

Personally I wouldn't bother :)
