Ebay selling situation - please advise

I'm still a bit of an eBay noob so here's the deal. I sold a PS2 bundle which included the console, an aftermarket controller and 6 games. Everything was new and sealed except the extra controller which was new but not sealed.

The buyer says the PS2 freezes with every game he's tried and wants a refund. I didn't list any return policy or imply any return policy or warranty. However I also didn't explicity state that all sales were final or no refund/returns.

I want to tell him to take it up with Sony since it's brand new and carries the manufacturer's warranty. He's threatening with negative feedback. I don't really see anything to dispute neg feedback for this kind of situation. I feel that I've upheld my end of the contract by delivering the items brand new and sealed. There's no way for me to know if it's defective if it was never opened. But I also don't want a neg or a Paypal dispute for something as silly as this.

Did I screw myself by not explicitly stating all sales are final or no refunds? What do you think I should do?

Paypal will typically side with the buyer. Might be a modder who switched out parts, and/or cannot mod that particular PS2. Do you have the serial # of the PS2 you sent him?

Tell him the item is under warranty and to get it repaired by Sony at no cost.

If he says no, it's up to you. If negative feedback doesn't bother you, forget about it. If it does, tell him to return the item and you'll refund everything minus shipping.

Unfortunately no. I didn't record serial numbers because I wasn't planning on taking any returns. In hindsight I realize I probably should do so regardless for any items I sell, even if they're final sale.

Thanks for the input guys.
