eBay Selling Question

Selling some stuff on eBay, and I don't have too many bids (4 or so days left), but I have lots of "watchers" and "hits". Anyone have any experience with how counters affect bidding depending if they are visible or not?

For my more expensive auctions (read: over $1000) I like to put the counter as visible and refresh the page a bunch to make the auction look very active; makes potential bidders dubious about sniping themselves. It can often lead to getting a higher initial bid from a buyer who wants to make it a sure deal. Then again, everything I sell is pretty unique, typically you can't find another on ebay, so my situation may differ from yours.

I always use visible.

Do you find people bid more with them? I'm wondering if visible counters affect "sniping" since people can gauge how much interest there is in an item (sort of)

I don't really notice a difference.

eBayers are idiots and sheep, actually idiotic sheep. Usually if they think it's popular they're more apt to bid on an item.

I'm not an eBay pro though, maybe some hardcore eBayers can chime in with their two cents.
