please list pros/cons of each...so far I am accepting paypal only, but was thinking of adding checks with 10 day clearance period.

cash! Well, hidden in an envelope.
Money order!
Non Credit card paypal.
Mostly anything we do not have to pay fees on, or wait to clear in the bank.

Problem with checks is that it only takes one to bounce. One trip of getting hit with between $25-35.00 bank fee, and you will have a really bad taste on taking checks. Not to mention that ppl often are very impatient when they buy stuff. five to seven days for the check to arrive and 10 days clearance and another five to seven days for their stuff to arrive... well, by that time they are screaming for their items.

And I recently learned that even if the check appears to clear after 10 days, there is still a possiblity that it will bounce later on. the only sure way to know is to wait for one banking statement cycle. Usually a month.

PayPal fees are disgusting. Between listing fees and final value fees and then PayPal fees, you can be handing over almost 15% to Ebay. Personal, non-credit card PayPal doesnt not take credit cards and is mostly echecks so it is almost 5 days before that clears. And you can only transfer $500.00 a month out of the paypal account.

I always liked cash. But ppl can be leery, so a mony order is second best choice.
🙂

I use PayPal for low dollar items, and Check/Money Order for high dollar items.

I dislike PayPal's cut. Along with eBay's.. its just too much. ~40$ taken out of 100$ profit makes it not worth it.

10 days?! You have a very strange bank. My bank(Wells Fargo) clears checks in 2 days max, always has.

But I agree. With both PayPal and eBay fees, its just not worth it. I haven't accepted PayPal for high dollar items in quite a while.

auctionpayments.com

They accept CC and send you a money order. They don't charge you back even if you ship merchandise before anything is cleared. I accept paypal too but I use discretion...if they haven't paid any verified buyers before I don't accept it. I don't ship to non verified addresses unless they have at least 20 feedbacks.

Also, with paypal, I charge the buyer 2.9% on top of it for fees.

My bank takes usually 5 but I state I wait 7-10 days for checks to clear and when they want to send checks I tell them I prefer a cashier's check
