As of August I think, they changed their policy to where you can't even say that you accept paypal if you only have a personal account. I always thought premier account was for people selling as a business but I guess not.
Just curious what would happen if you said you accepted "paypa1" (a one instead of an L), or "baybal (change the b's to p's)", etc. LOL. Like people do with their email addresses. Think they'd cancel it?

I'd imagine it would only make a difference if you are a paypal prefered member, otherwise, I don't think there's anything ebay can do to you

It's pp's way of making you upgrade your account to one of the ones that charges you regardless of the payment type.

I lost almost $100 to fees on eBay and Paypal, but made $400 after every fees. So it was worth it, but still, it is like charging a the first window and the second window at a drive-thru since they are both the same company now.

All they changed is you have to accept all forms of paypal if you accept any.

Not that big of a deal really, though I do agree that their current fees scheme is kind of lame. Then again it was that way before ebay bought paypal so nothing has really changed.

No one actually monitors that.

And it's not that you can't mention paypal, I think it's that you can't specify that they can't use a Credit Card.

But I always do it anyway.

Just another reason I wish freaking Google would come out with a payment system.

ok, let me see if i get this.

From now on, you can only mention PayPal in you auction if you are premier?

Or you can only display the PayPal logo if you are premier?

My thoughts exactly. I would even be fine with them charging fees similiar in cost to Paypal since I get 2+GB of free email storage. But it is my understanding that their service would be cheaper (and therefore SO much better).

Both now.
Policy
Sellers who offer PayPal as a payment option on eBay (either using logos or text in the item description) must accept all forms of PayPal payment including account balance, bank account transfer, and credit cards. Sellers must have a Premier or Business PayPal Account or be willing to upgrade from a Personal PayPal Account to a Premier or Business Account if sellers receive a credit card payment. Sellers may not communicate to buyers that they accept, or will not accept, specific forms of PayPal payment.
Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:
Listing cancellation
Forfeiture of eBay fees on cancelled listings
Limits on account privileges
Loss of PowerSeller status
Account suspension

Before this it used to be that you just couldn't check the box that put their logo in the payment option section. Of course I think at one time you could do that too. Before ebay owned paypal.

If you do it anyway, you've just gotten lucky. I rarely list items for sale, and I listed something a couple months ago (after this policy went into effect), and I didn't get caught, but listed 3 items a few weeks ago and all 3 were cancelled after about 3-4 days. I didn't now about the policy until then. I doubt if ebay monitors any auctions, it just depends on if someone reports you or not.

I just don't check the box for Paypal and just stick a blurb in the notes that says something to the effect of I take payments from yoru bank account through the normal popular payment system. Otherwise I accept Personal Check or Money Orders but will wait until my bank guarantees the funds before shipping the item.

Yeah I guess I'm going to say something like that. You think most bidders understand?
