So apparently, this guy is auctioning MSN music codes; $100 for 1,000 songs. Not only that, but supposedly he has 20 of them, so a total of 20,000 songs? Can this be legit? I wonder where he got the codes from. He has a feedback rating of 52 (100% positive). I emailed asking where he got the coupon codes . . . I'll update with a response when/if he gets back to me.

Pretty similar to iTunes. $0.99 per download for most songs (some are $0.79). 160kbps WMA 2-pass VBR . . . so slightly higher quality than iTunes format I believe. But of course, every song is protected by DRM.

I'll be interested to hear the answer to this. Still I wouldn't touch this drm crap unless it was my only option in the whole wide world.

I wouldnt touch a lossy format unless its my only option in the whole wide world.
Course, thanks to assnut bands the lossy compression really doesnt mean much anyways

Ah, screw 160 kbps as the only option, and screw DRM. 160 kbps really isn't that horrible, but if I purchase music I want the option for something better.

I wouldnt pay more than a penny a megabyte for a song in perfect quality in my preffered encoding so 😛ee; on you both.

there is a pretty slick site that talks about deals that relates the story of a trick of "unlimited" downloads in regards to a contest. Very shady and faily sure MS will catch on - it's a matter of who gets screwed.
Run away.

Remember, a 160kbs WMA is roughly equivalent in quality to a 320kbs MP3 - at least that's how WMA used to be.

I also read somewhere the DRM has been recently cracked, so if you did download the files you could strip it out for use on systems where the DRM would stop it from being played.
