Ebay seller Question!

I have the box checked "apply sales tax automatically" but only for New York State
Is ebay going to apply sales tax to all my sales or will they only do it if the buyer is located in New York?
Is it a good idea to check this box?

I'm in Cali and never checked this box... but from what I gather, eBay just adds it to the bill and you receive the tax.

And by law in EVERY state, if you collect sales tax, you MUST report it and pay it to the state.

So I never collect tax. 😉
 
I'll only collect tax if the buyer is from your state. I just sold an item and found out firsthand that out of state buyers don't get charged tax.
