I bought these Panasonic headphones off of ebay because all of the reviews said that they were very comfortable. I am coming from a pair of zalman 5.1's that weighed about 2 tonnes.

I just got this e-mail from him:

shipped out your item on Monday for you. You should be getting item late
this week or early next week. Thanks for not complaining about the shipping
price & I thought I would reward you for that! I upgraded you to the 711
headset (a nicer, more expensive folding unit with additional option).
E-mail me if you have any additonal questions & thanks again for your
purchase, I really appreciate it!!!

Should I belive what they say that these are indeed better, or should I tell him to f-off and give me what I paid for?

The reason I didn't mind paying so much for shipping was because my friend had these headphones and they were really good. He paid over 50 dollars for them and imo are worth it. But here I was getting them for less than half of that so I figured I would go for it.

I have actually had this happen to me but I wsnt told about it. I bought/won the auction for a set of Logitech Z560 speakers for $65 shipped. When the box came it was a set of Klipsch Promedia 5.1 thx speakers. I was happy till they didnt work and contacted him to tell him about the mess up. He said that he had sold out of what I won and decided to be nice and upgrade me to the next THX set he had. He was sorry they didnt work and even sent me a return shipping label and was going to send me another set.

This was supper nice and didnt have to but I ended up trading the set off to someone who wanted a broken set and gave me a set of the 560's I wanted.

sounds fishy to me..or maybe he's one of the few good sellers..and ran out of stock..so upgraded you for the inconvenience. or he used the name of the headphones to lure you in because they are popular.

There's about a 50/50 chance for this deal. 50% that it will turn out damn good or 50% that it will turn out downright sh1tty. There's no middle ground.

I am going to do just that.

Here is a link for the Pansonic RP-HT711

They are more expensive than the other ones, but there is absalutly nothing about them on the internet.

These might turn out to be good headphones as well. So far I have no reason to belive that this is not a good seller. I might try to work out a plan where I can listen to them and then decide whether to send them back or not. But without an agreement I am not going to touch that package.

the guy only has 112 feedback, but they are all positive. He seems to sell a lot of electronics stuff...

assuming you get a new Panasonic RP-HT711 (i assume that's what he meant by 711...) you're getting slightly more expensive (perhaps better) headsets. I'm not sure man, it definatley is wierd. But by the fact that he shipped them out already : i'd sit tight and see what happens, you might get lucky, but if not, time to ask for a refund/the proper product and worse case take pictures and report toe bay.

Righto, after doing quite a bit of research on them this has become more apparent. I think the only way is to listen to them for myself.

I guess both of our hands are tied until it comes in. Mabye until then I can get him to agree to let me open it and try them on since I bought the other ones mainly for comfort. Hopefully it doesn't come to the worst case senerio that you mentioned, but I guess I have to be ready for anything.

Thanks for the replies guys!

I would contact him and tell him to send you the items you bought, otherwise cancel order. Be firm. Especially since he is taking forever to ship the items and you paid up the a$$ for shipping.

Very true that I did pay about double what shipping should be. However, I have just come to accept ebay price gougers and just add it to the price to see if I would still be getting a deal. In this case I did come out with a good deal.

I am still hoping that these headphones might be really nice because they are indeed a step up. 50mm driver insted of 40mm. I am aware that price doesn't = quality but sometimes it does. And they are both from the same RP-HT series.

I think i'll e-mail him back saying that I would like either the original headphones that I bought, or a chance to try these on and see how they sound.

The courteous thing would have been for the seller to first ask you if would even consider the alternate headphones.

So even if they are nicer headphones, what the seller did was irresponsible.

yeah, email him, and make an agreement over email about you evaluating the product so you have paperwork that backs you up just in case this goes sour in a week or two.
