I scored a deal on a Dell OEM mobo (from OptiPlex MT) to build a server using an unutilized chassis and PSU I had around here. It was not properly identified in the auction listing, just listed as non-descript "DELL motherboard", but I was able to tell what it was from the photo. Buy It Now prices on this board have been ranging between $45 ~ $75 plus shipping from various sellers. The seller is some kind of electronics recycler.

The board was listed Buy it Now for $26 plus $12 shipping. I sent an 'offer' for $20 (plus shipping) and the seller accepted. Unlike nearly all other listings this one came with the rear I/O shield which will fit any ATX chassis. I assumed the auction was for the mobo and I/O shield, that's all that was listed.

Got the board and it had Core i3-3220 processor installed in it. The auction photo does show a CPU (with some residual TIM) in the socket but I assumed someone snapped the photo not thinking to remove the processor for the photo. The CPU works fine, I used Intel's Processor Diagnostic checks out 100%. That alone is worth a good $60 maybe up to $80. And so far the board seems to work fine, too.

Contacted the seller to inform them and see what they wanted to do about it, I'd be willing to give them something extra for it (or return it at their expense) but have not received any reply in three days. Guess it's mine to keep!

I feel like I got a better score on a three hundred dollar mandolin and a sixty dollar case, since it went for just over one-hundred sixty bucks.

So you wanted to inform them that the useless junk they were trying to get rid of was exactly as listed?

I had an ebay user threaten to "cut my pecker off and feed it to my mum" yesterday after I banned him from bidding on my items.

Consider yourself lucky.

Had a good score of computer stuff last Saturday at a garage sale. Bought 2 WD My Passport 1TB USB 3.0 external drives, new in the box, for $10 each. Paid $100 for 21 WD Caviar Black 1TB SATA drives all in Chenbro drive trays. The last score was a SuperMicro 1U telephony server still in the box. Has an i3-3210, 2GB DDR3, a couple of 2.5" drives, and some kind of PCI-e card that accepts a T-1 cable connection. The guy only wanted 10 bucks for it so I couldn't resist.

Why did you ban the bidder? What was the item?

Just low balled me on a computer. Basically sent him a message. Come on get real then he sent me another offer for $1. Instaban then had to call ebay to delete his account and block his IP.

Some people are just stupid, hyper sensitive AND crazy. Bad combo IMO. o_O

Yeah some best offers are ridiculous. I try and counter with something reasonable but I guess people want to bid for stuff for next to nothing. maybe sometimes they get lucky? item in question was a linksys e4200 i was listing for $70 and offer was for $10
