1) You see auction is close to where you live, you email seller asking if local pickup is available, seller says sure.
2) You win auction for $40 + $10 shipping.

Should you tell the seller that you're going to pay $40 since there is no shipping involved?

Seriously.. You have to ask?

I buy laser printers fro work on Ebay - only from local sellers, and I;ve never had to pay anything but the auction closing price + tax.

I did that once with a book on half.com. The seller told me to buy it, and then pick it up. Of course, i couldnt not pay the shipping, but it was only 3 bucks or so. Didnt matter in that case.

But, I would not pay the extra 10 in your case

Most of the times its shipping and handling. So he may want a few bucks towards handling.

I see it as part of that $10 is to cover ebay/paypal fees....I know your 'not allowed' to use s/h to cover those esp on higher priced items but even for $40 your out $5 because of the fees. so even if it was just a few $ to help cover those it would be nice
