I guess Judge Judy is okay looking. Whatever floats your boat. ;)

I'll take the plantiffs though.

I hate scammers, but I also don't really feel sorry for people that fall for these scams.

I love the end... "Judgment for the plaintiff in the amount of 5000 dollars." OWNED so hard.

This was discussed in the last (few) threads about this video. The way those shows work is the show puts up a "prize fund" out of which the judgment is paid. The rest is split between the plaintiff and the defendant. So if she was awarded $500 out of a $5000 prize fund, then she'd really get $2750 and the defendant would get $2250.

Judge Judy awarded $5000 so the defendant wouldn't get any money.

I have a question. Just how enforcable are these rulings?

If you are ruled $5000 against you, when do you have to pay by? What if you don't pay them? What kind of REAL negative impact does it bear on the person? Does it go on their credit rating? Do they get a warrant issued to them?

See Mugs' post.

Although, my recollection was a bit different than what Mugs posted. I thought the total pot was $10k, not $5k (each side would get $5k +- the judgement amount). For example, the plantiff would get $5k + the $5k judgement = $10k, the defendant would get $5k-$5k judgement = $0. Although, I could be wrong as it has been years since I watched those shows.

Either way, it doesn't matter. The person with the money ruled against him/her never pays a penny. Instead, he/she just gets less money for doing the show. There is no deadline, no "not paying", no real negative impact on the person, no credit report, no warrant, etc.

I'm talking about real verdicts in small claims courts. If this 'show' was a real court.

It's $5,000. And the rulings on the show are overturned many times, usually when Judge Judy oversteps her arbitrary bounds.
