eBay rant about confused buyers

Just had to rant about this because this woman is giving my a super hard time with her purchase. I sold this Pashmina to her and she e-mailed me about payment. I sent her my information and how I accept payment, also clearly stated in the auction details.

Her e-mail is messed up and doesnt get any of my messages until today. I contact her told her how I would like payment from instant bank transfer on Paypal. She says sure, but then when i get payment its via a credit card. I denied it and told her I dont take CC's. She replies demanding that I accept hers because it was a ATM/Check card not a CC. I told her Paypal considers both the same (those of you who use Paypal know that it will always ask you to confirm paying by these types of cards).

She now claims that her bank already shows that her check card has been charged.... Of course she has no clue as to how check cards work and now she refuses to do anything until her bank shows that the money is back with her. I have tried multiple times to explain to her how these things work, but she is not really getting the point.

So now I am left with a newbie eBay buyer who keeps trying to make my life hard. She refuses to make any effort to learn how her Check card / Paypal or eBay works. And expects me to help her, which I have by offering my phone number multiple times along with offering to call her (she refused both). I also gave her Paypal number so she can see what is going on and even called them myself to ensure that she would be refunded.

ARGH.... ppl like this make me want to stop allowing anyone with less than 10+ positive feedback bid on my items.

I wish there a list of all the problematic eBayers that anyone has had problems with. Then sellers could choose to do business with them or not. (if such a list is out there anyone got a link? haha) I hardly have problems with people who bid on my electronics, but when it comes to home ware etc seems that these people are completely clueless in eBay and perhaps life in general.

not worth it to get retalitory neg feedback. i have already blocked her from bidding again, and will request refund from eBay if it doesnt work.

But just wnated to know if ppl would be interested in a list of eBayers to avoid ... i know i would consult that list all the time haha.

Downgrade your account in order that you cannot receive credit card payments.

yeah i did that about 2 years ago. so i denied her payment. but paypal will always take the payment first then ask you to upgrade your account. that is why lots of buyers demand that you take their payments since paypal took it when they really did not.

That list would be far too large 😉

yeah but i get it would be very popular and might even be a good business. kinda like a square trade where ppl could list problems with other eBays and resolve their disputes. haha

I think that list is called feedback.

A $10 item? Just eat the 3% charge. If it doesnt break you, add it to the shipping charge.

then you gotta pay 3% for the rest of your life on paypal. once you upgrade after downgrading you cannot downgrade again. it will then charge you 3% on all payments, not just CC in future i think or maybe a lesser percentage but still charges you something

Tell her the issue is with PayPal and her bank and not you. Tell her to check her PayPal account as well for the missing money.

You may want to change it to "ATM/Check card and Credit Card payments not accepted."

Although I completely agree that she is in the wrong, you should just upgrade your paypal account and be done with it. If the fee is going to kill you, just add 50 cents to your shipping charges. It's not worth the hassle trying to get non-cc payments from everyone.

They already have a feedback system, I honestly dont think it'd be that popular.

Yeah alot of people say that, but you know 3% on all payments is alot of money and I have had way too many CC probelms with Paypal (lots of buyers do charge backs now)

So that is why I avoid them now.

with a debit/checkcard it is not possible to do chargeback but with a major cc, yes it's possible. Even I who don't have many transaction have an upgraded paypal account and 3 percent is NOTHING!
50 bucks = 1.50
100 bucks = 3.00

profits on most items is 10% so on $100 is around $10, $3 is 30% of that. This is just a avg for reselling. In volume that makes a huge deal. But more important is that when I was accepting credit cards I had around 4-5 disputes where the customer(s) scammed me. They got the item, left feedback (positive) then a few weeks later Paypal would suddenly charge me hundreds to thousands (laptop) because the buyer had contacted their CC company and claimed they never received the item(s) as promised.

Paypal, eBay and the CC were totally unwilling to help at all because all they cared about was keeping their customer (the buyer happy) Thus I was out alot of money that year and it totally wiped out my profit for a while. From those experiences and the experiecnes of many other eBays I downgraded my account to ensure that would not happen again.

After almost of year of disputes I finally got some of the money back by filing charges against the buyer with their local authories, but after it was all said and done it left me with a horrible experince with Paypal and their so called "protection."

They are a bit better now that they are owned by eBay, but I still avoid credit cards on eBay.

$1000 = $30
$10,000 = $300 😛

However, once you get to that point, the convinience pays for it.

Why would somebody leave positive feedback then do a chargeback? wouldn't that put them in a contract, and violate their ability to do any refund?
Their paypal account may have been hijacked by someone else because they fell for paypal conartist and who knows how many that's happen to because they fail to read guideline on paypal.com that states paypal will never ask for confidential information no matter what. Now its much harder to do a chargeback if there is a positive feedback because ebay now owns paypal, woohoo! so you can upgrade again and have no need to worry 🙂
The stock market is even a bigger scam then this and most people fell for it as well :|:|:|
