Ebay question regarding refund and feedback for a newbie

Bought some Mach3 Turbo razor blades on Ebay that were not 1st quality (blades not sharp and lubrication strip wore out after only 1 use). I contacted the seller before leaving negative feedback and he agreed to refund the full purchase price less shipping charges as was stated in his auction as long as I sent back the unused products. I've already received the refund and he deducted $2.50 for shipping. However, in reviewing the original Ebay auction, it stated that shipping was free so I'm assuming he including any shipping costs in his "Buy it Now" price.

My question is that given that it stated that shipping was free, should he have deducted anything for shipping in what I was refunded. I also had to pay a couple of bucks to send him back the unused blades so I'm out almost $5 bucks for a product that wasn't accurately represented as not being 1st quality.

Also, I haven't left any feedback yet so what kind of feedback do I leave for him? Although he refunded the purchase price, I'm not sure if I should leave good feedback since he did misrepresent what he was selling or do I just leave neutral feedback and state something like "item wasn't as expect and refund was given".

Thx

Refunding the price minus shipping is pretty standard for ebay returns. Not sure I understand your problem, you got the product and tried it and when it didn't work out he gave you your money back.

The auction stated shipping was free. The seller proceeded to deduct shipping costs ($2.50) from the refund amount.

He shouldn't have deducted the amount if he said shipping was free.
