I'm selling a moderately priced item on ebay right now but I'm having second thoughts about it due to the lack of seller support from eBay with their new rules. Maybe I'm just being paranoid but I'm worried about chargebacks from buyers. This will be the first time selling on eBay since early late 2007. Thoughts?

Last year I had a guy buy a cell phone from me, refuse to pay, and then neg'ed me with a comment of "did not send item" when I submitted a non-paying bidder complaint. It was annoying, but ebay accepted the complaint & removed the feedback. I relisted the phone and sold it for about $75 less.

An annoying ordeal, but I wouldn't say I got "burned"

i've gotten burned as a seller. i basically got negative feedback because i sold a limited edition PS3 for $500. the box stated that it included a lan cable but didnt ever come with one. ( i m assuming normal PS3s at one time came w/ a lan cable) buyer ended giving me negative feedback even after i refunded him $30.

not to mention all the hassle, and ebay fees

Shipped a laptop, lost the tracking numbers and everything from USPS. Buyer claimed he never got the item. Refunded everything. The one time I lost the tracking numbers is the time he never got the item.

But as long as you have tracking info, you should be ok.

Yeah. Those are the things I'm worried about. Maybe minute but still a PITA.

Just looked at the eBay fees and looks like they have increased. Not to mention Paypal fees. Fuck it. I should just end the auction.

My advice:

1. Straight sales, no auctions.
2. Instant Payment Required.
3. Block non-US buyers through both Ebay and PayPal.
